Redefining Engineering Workflows: NTI & IN2
May 2025IN2, an engineering consultancy, overcame synchronisation errors and improved model performance by adopting Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro.
Introduction:
Formed in 2002, IN2 is a progressive engineering consultancy specialising in MEP design, building services and sustainability solutions. IN2 have offices in Dublin, Athlone, Belfast, London, and Berlin and employs over 85 staff.
Challenge:
IN2 make better spaces for people and is dedicated to delivering low-energy design from the conceptual stage, handover and beyond. Integral to their approach is a combination of specialist expertise in innovative passive design, sustainability and building simulation techniques. IN2 had synchronisation errors and conflicts with their Autodesk Revit models, while model performance for remote users was a considerable issue.

Solution:
IN2 began the internal implementation of Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
Following discovery sessions with IN2 staff, NTI proposed the use of BIM Collaborate Pro for hosting Revit models in the Cloud. Jonathan Reinhardt from NTI facilitated technical workshops, outlining how IN2 could manage the live models to suit their needs and demonstrated the recommended Autodesk solution.
NTI provided workflow training services and continues to deliver maintenance, technical support and remote training as required. All IN2 Revit projects are hosted on Autodesk Construction Cloud through BIM Collaborate Pro.
Business Outcome:
The BIM Team is unaffected by server downtime, there is a considerable reduction in network traffic and data on the servers, saving time and ensuring projects are delivered on time.
BIM Collaborate Pro allows tight control of model collaboration and reduction in errors, repeat communications, and delays, thereby reducing risk.
The model performance has significantly improved for remote users.
Workflows have been enhanced, and publishing models to BIM Collaborate Pro has provided enormous benefits to the Engineers, providing a 3D working environment, vastly improved understanding of building design requirements and allowing Engineers the ability to comment and mark up.
This seamless transitiondelivered immediate benefits to model performance, with synchronisation errors and conflicts disappearing overnight.
Conclusion:
IN2 is very happy with the results of adopting Autodesk Construction Cloud, which has been delivered to their Design Collaboration processes. IN2 is 100% committed to embracing new technologies, striving to deliver progressive MEP design to achieve the client's design aspirations.
It is exciting to see IN2’s Environmental Team's involvement in BIM Projects at design inception and in the planning process with Daylight/Sunlight modelling analysis, Wind Analysis, Pedestrian Comfort, and Dynamic Simulation modelling. Currently, the Environmental Team requires standalone models that need editing to conduct relevant assessments. IN2 looks forward to integrating modelling within the design team to allow seamless design development.
