Suir Engineering Boosts Efficiency with Automated Test Pack Workflows
February 2026With NTI’s consultancy and automation expertise, Suir Engineering now has a workflow that streamlines test pack creation within Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). The solution reduces manual effort, improves traceability, and delivers consistent, high-quality documentation across multiple projects. Since deployment, pack turnaround times have improved by more than 90%.
Challenge
Work was siloed across different areas, with teams spending many hours manually building packs. This meant inconsistent approaches, higher risk of human error, and frequent versioning issues. As project volume and complexity increased, a more scalable and automated workflow was required.
Solution
NTI partnered with Suir Engineering to develop an automated test pack collation workflow using Autodesk Build and ACC Connect. The solution streamlined processes into standardised templates, reduced manual handling, and ensured structured data flowed cleanly into pack generation.
Result
For major projects involving hundreds of test packs, these efficiencies translate into savings of multiple work-weeks, freeing teams to concentrate on engineering and commissioning. Teams now experience smoother collaboration, reduced administrative burden, and higher quality outcomes on site.
From manual work to automated workflows
Test pack generation has traditionally been manual, inconsistent, and time-consuming across construction projects. At Suir Engineering, this challenge became a turning point. In early 2025, Suir Engineering’s internal teams were focused on improving workflows, and enhancing the quality of project data. However, test pack production remained a major bottleneck. Analysis showed that manual pack assembly accounted for up to 16% of total commissioning time on large projects. The manual work offered new potential to work in a more efficient and consistent matter especially as pack volume increased. On peak projects, Suir Engineering was generating over 250, creating a significant administrative burden across engineering and commissioning teams.
“We wanted automation that actually fits how we work, not a one-size-fits-all approach. A lot of our focus was on improving efficiency, consistency, and quality of information.” - Sean Corcoran, Digital Project Manager at Suir Engineering

Suir Engineering had already begun adopting Autodesk Construction Cloud more broadly but needed a partner to help unlock automation and standardisation at scale. Test packs needed to be generated faster, follow a consistent structure, and integrate directly in ACC without repetitive file handling or manual assembly.
“We designed the automation to extend what’s possible natively in Autodesk Build, giving the client consistent, fully formatted test packs without the manual effort. We built this side-by-side with their teams, validating each step in real project environments to ensure adoption would be seamless from day one." - David Purdon, Technical Director at NTI Ireland
With this approach, automation became an enabler of Suir Engineering’s digital strategy transforming a major operational challenge into a streamlined, scalable advantage.
Ease of use promotes adoption
Once implemented, the automation enabled multiple disciplines to work more actively with test packs.
“Instead of spending up to 24 hours building test packs manually, teams are now seeing automation deliver a consistent output in under two hours.” - Sean Corcoran
Structured templates and consistent workflows have improved accuracy and traceability of documentation. Errors that previously arose from manual duplication have been significantly reduced.
“It saves a lot of duplication and frees our teams to focus on quality and coordination rather than admin tasks.” - Sean Corcoran
Unexpected benefits have also emerged, including stronger collaboration across teams and the ability to spend more time on meaningful, on-the-ground commissioning work rather than administration. Manual test pack creation required 24.25 hours per pack, and automation reduced this to just 1.48 hours, a 94% reduction in processing time has allowed teams to reallocate time to higher-value engineering activities.
Close collaboration with NTI
NTI first partnered with Suir Engineering in February 2025, working closely with internal teams to build a solution that worked not only technically but practically in real construction environments. The approach was highly collaborative, with NTI adapting to Suir Engineering’s workflows and iterating alongside their teams.
"NTI didn’t just deliver a one-size-fits-all product, they prototyped, tested, and refined with us - communication was very consistent. NTI were very clear with us about what was feasible. They worked closely with our teams to co-create the optimum for our current solution” - Sean Corcoran
From NTI’s perspective, the focus was always on long-term scalability and practical adoption.
“Every decision started with understanding Suir Engineering’s workflows. Our goal wasn’t just to automate but to make the process simpler, cleaner, and scalable across all project sites. We don’t hand over a static solution, we build digital workflows that can evolve with a client’s business as new disciplines and packs come online.” - David Purdon
This collaborative co-creation ensured the automation aligned perfectly with day-to-day project delivery, fitting seamlessly into existing processes and delivering measurable value from day one.
“One of the main benefits I would see of working with NTI was gaining insight into what was possible with automation, along with the knowledge and enablement to further develop and apply what we learned to other use cases - enabling us to achieve greater value from our ACC implementation" - Anita Larkin, Business Systems Solution Manager at Suir Engineering
Looking ahead
As Suir Engineering scales, the solution is expected to evolve to handle new pack types and disciplines, manage more complex data sets through metadata approaches and integrate with emerging tools as part of a broader digital ecosystem.
More time for Engineering
By removing manual complexity, Suir Engineering has given its teams more time for what matters: delivering high quality engineering and construction outcomes.
"The solution gives us flexibility we didn’t have before. We can focus on the work on site, knowing the documentation is consistent and traceable." - Sean Corcoran
